Utsunomiya area consists of the cities of Utsunomiya, Kanuma, Moka, Sakura, and Shimotsuke in central Tochigi prefecture. This area has the most sports facilities and accommodations from all 6 areas and can accommodate a wide variety of requests from sports teams.
Utsunomiya, the capital of Tochigi prefecture has a population of 500,000 and plays a main role in commercial activities. Utsunomiya has a fully developed transportation system, allowing easy access to Tokyo and other parts of the prefecture. The city is known for its good food such as Utsunomiya Gyoza(stuffed dumplings), and the Japan Cup, the biggest cycle road race in Asia. Kanuma has pure water and magnificent flowers and greenery. Kanuma is also famous for it’s traditional autumn festival. Moka is famous for it’s strawberries and the steam locomotives which attract many train fans. Sakura has high-quality hot springs and a history as a castle town and post-station town. Shimotsuke has three JR stations, and is the bed town which is convenient for transportations. All these attractions make this area a very convenient location in terms of training, tourist attractions and food.
