The vice-governor of Tochigi Prefecture, Seiichi Suzuki, gave a presentation to the ambassadors of 14 countries—all members of AFRECO (The Association of African Economy and Development, Japan ECA Committee) —in Nikko on October 14, 2015.
He promoted Tochigi as one of the best training locations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games. The content of the presentation included various sports facilities, excellent accommodations, suitable climates, good sightseeing spots, and delicious foods. It sparked the ambassadors’ interest in Tochigi, and as a result, we had a very active question-and-answer session.
After the presentation, we had a reception party where we were able to engage with each other more personally and exchange more specific opinions and details. We hope that the countries choose Tochigi as their Olympic training location and that we will see their athletes in 2020!
Participating countries:
Ethiopia, Ghana, Gabon, Cameroon, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, Congo, Djibouti, Senegal, Nigeria, Benin, Malawi, Morocco and Lesotho.
