Presentation to the NWHL Team (Dec. 2015)
We gave a presentation about potential training camps to Dani Rylan, the commissioner of the National Women's Hockey League and the general manager of the New York Riveters, and Chad Wiseman, the head coach of the Riveters. This opportunity was made possible due to exhibition matches planned by Nikko between the Japanese women's ice hockey team and this team.
Tochigi Prefecture and Nikko worked together to hold the presentation and suggested that the U.S. ice hockey team hold their training in Nikko before the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Rylan and Wiseman said they were very satisfied with the ice hockey arena, hotels, and meals, and told us they would inform the relevant personnel in the United States of these details.
Ice hockey is very popular in Nikko, which is hometown of the professional ice hockey team Ice Bucks. Additionally, this town is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in Japan as it contains the World Heritage Shrines and Temples of Nikko. For these reasons, we hope that the U.S. team chooses Nikko as a candidate for their training location.
